| Although you might be surprised to hear this, but it is possible to force lactation even without giving birth to a baby. Many American women who are adopting babies prefer to nurse their babies. This is achieved by inducing lactation using a variety of methods. |
How to force lactation:
If you want to induce lactation, it is important to understand the way breast milk is produced. When a woman is pregnant, breasts get ready for lactation due to influence from hormones like estrogen, progesterone and prolactin. Because of the presence of these hormones, the body responds naturally and the ducts within the breasts increase in size.
After the woman gives birth, levels of estrogen and progesterone decrease dramatically while the level of prolactin increases, thus leading to lactation.
However, to force lactation without pregnancy, the level of prolactin has to be increased in the body and this is possible by nipple stimulation. When the level of prolactin increases, the brain is given a signal to release oxytocin, which allows the release of milk from the breasts.
You can stimulate your nipples by manual stimulation of using a dual action breast pump. If you want to use a breast pump, make sure it is a hospital grade pump. You can even massage your breasts on a regular basis to force lactation.
If you want you can also use medication to induce lactation. Many women are known to use a drug named domperidone. This drug is known to interfere with the production of dopamine, which reduces the amount of prolactin produced by the pituitary gland.
