International Adoption For Older Couples
| International adoption can be plainly described as adopting a child from a foreign country. The number of older couples wanting to adopt a child is gradually increasing during the last few years. However, the preference of domestic adoption is on a lower side when compared to international adoption. |

Older couples find it easier to adopt a child from a foreign nation as more babies are available overseas and chances of finding a child are much greater. Another advantage is that the process could be completed quickly without any requirement of waiting period.
However, international adoption is a very complicated process entirely dependant on the adoption laws of the particular country. The most common countries from which children are adopted include China, Russia, Guatemala, Ukraine, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Columbia, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Haiti, India, Philippines, Poland, Romania, and Belarus. Adoption rules differ from country to country. Some of the factors that are given prime importance during international adoption include age of the adoptive parents, their financial status, marital status and history, sexual orientation, weight, psychological health, physical abnormalities, number of dependant children in the house and the ancestral history of the prospective adoptive parents.
Age requirement of older couples differs from country to country. While the maximum age limit in countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Vietnam is 55, the age limit in China and Taiwan for older couples is 45. If older couples want to adopt a child from Guatemala, they should be aged below 50 years. The upper age limit for Haiti is 55 years. However, the couple should be married for at least five years so as to adopt a child from Haiti. In order to adopt children from countries like Ecuador, India, Philippines, Columbia, Thailand and Hong Kong, adoptive parents should be aged below 40 years.
