Encouraging children to be successful is a good thing. However at the same time it is important to let them face failure and not make a big deal out of it.

          Teach your children not to hesitate in making mistakes. At the same time, make them learn from their mistakes. Encourage your child if you see that he is good at something. When a child makes a mistake or experiences failure, he always remembers it and tries not to repeat it in future. Do not remind your child constantly about the mistakes that he makes. Learning from failures is an important part of character building in a child’s life. At the same time, success is important because it encourages children to do better. It teaches them how they can avoid failure.

          Have real conversations with your child. Accentuating their positives should be at the core of your communication with your child. Let him know that you see and appreciate your child’s efforts, regardless of the outcome. Rewarding achievements is a good way to enforce positive reinforcement. This does not mean that we resort to false flattery. It means that instead of reprimanding them for how they disappointed us, we show them appreciation and respect.

          However it is best if rewards for positive behavior or achievements are not material things. Use encouraging words or throw a party for your child. This will keep him motivated towards doing well in future too.
